A netbook vs laptop belong to the same category as compact computers which are mobile. The comparison between the two is not a difficult task; instead they possess more or less the same applications and features with the advanced technology, but the differences are more in the outlook of both the machines.
A laptop is a portable mechanical device and is an advanced version of a computer which has the outlook of a notebook. A laptop has a screen attached to the keyboard. It includes the accessories like a charger, a battery for the portability facility and a touchpad.
A netbook is an ultraportable mechanical device and an advanced version of a laptop. A netbook possess the weight which is similar to the weight of an average diary. It is smaller in size than a laptop. The cost of a dual core netbook in the market starts from around $150, which is much less than the cost of a standard laptop.
The main netbook vs laptop difference is that, a laptop computer is far more powerful than a netbook. Laptops have enough power to download big and demanding programs. On the other hand netbooks lack the availability of an optical disk drive, so there is no scope of CDs and DVDs.

This results in preventing the user from downloading some of the hard media products from the internet. Instead, in a netbook the main focus seems only on the connectivity of the enough power, keeping in mind that the user should never face the problems in downloading the hard media products.
The cost of the laptops in the market varies from around $200 and upwards. The engineers in the industry believe that the user always look for the better quality laptop and therefore gives less importance to the weight and the size of the laptop. The laptops are seen to be more advanced to netbooks in performance, heavy applications such as video editing and gaming. On the other hand netbooks are more usable in performing the applications such as word processing and so on.
Hence, from the above explanation it is proved that the netbooks or the mini laptops or the ultraportable devices are far cheaper, simpler, smaller and lighter as compared to the laptops or the portable devices. But the laptops are a little ahead of the netbooks in performance and operations of the big applications.
